Social proof is one of the most reliable conversion levers available to ecommerce brands — but only when it is placed correctly and feels genuine. Reviews buried at the bottom of a product page do little. Reviews surfaced at the moment of hesitation can be the difference between a purchase and an abandonment.
The Situation
Our client sold premium homeware and had a strong product — but their Shopify store was using the default Shopify product reviews app with no star ratings above the fold, no UGC photography, and no review collection emails. Despite a 4.7-star average across 340 reviews, almost no visitors were seeing that social proof.
Platform Migration: Shopify Reviews to Yotpo
We migrated all existing reviews to Yotpo and implemented the full Yotpo suite: star ratings in the page header, review carousel on the homepage, inline review snippets on collection pages, and a Q&A widget on product pages. A post-purchase review request flow was built in Klaviyo, timed to three days after confirmed delivery.

- Review highlight quote in the 'add to basket' zone
- Top three reviews surfaced on collection page tiles
- Dedicated reviews section above the fold on the homepage
- Review count and rating in Google Shopping ads via structured data
Driving Review Volume
The review request email series was the critical unlock. The first email, sent three days post-delivery, achieved a 34% open rate and 12% click rate. Within 90 days, review count had grown from 340 to over 1,100. More reviews meant more fresh content for Google and higher star ratings in organic search snippets.
